Raamanavami wishes

Apr 3, 2009

After a very long pause, started blogging again on the auspicious day of 'Sri Raama Navami'.
Today being the birthday of Lord Sri Raama, Sri Raama Seva Mandali , Bangalore celebrates music festival for 40 days. The festival is really a feast for any music lovers. Here is the link for the list of programmes

I remember my childhood days when myself, my sister along with my father used to sit and sing all the songs of Sri Raama. My father used to teach us most of the 'Devara Naamaas' and especially on Saturdays , we all used to sing special songs on Lord Raama.
Today just cannot wait counting hours to attend concert at Fort High school, which has been a dream for many years now. I feel lucky to stay very nearby to the venue.:) Recently started learning few compositions of Bhadrachal Raamadaasu and Annamaachaarya.
Sure to publish these devotional numbers soon.

Happy Sri Raama Navami

Jaadu Hain Nashaa Hain...Jism

Dec 4, 2008

Just happened to listen to this song recently, sung by Shreya Ghoshal.
I have watched Shreya Ghoshal competing in 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. I think one in thousands really have the potential to make it big in music industry. Day by day I am becoming a fan of Shreya Ghoshal.
When I listen to some good numbers, my mind always concentrates on the tune of the song and forgets the lyrics!:(
I have always used my own lyrics in some places to complete the song. I remember my sister always correcting me on lyrics, teasing me.:)
While practicing the song... I forgot the lyrics so many times and had to record it many times:( But here is my try to remember the lyrics and this would be my next challenge!!Really enjoyed singing the song.

Would love to hear your comments:)

Today thought of posting a devotional song from the movie 'Sethu'. My days used to start with the song during my college days. I have always felt very happy to sing Ilayaraja songs.

The song is composed by Sri Narayana Theertha and musical maestro has given very beautiful 'Kalyani' raagam to the composition in the movie.

After my vacation for four days, here I am with my version of the song.

Do drop in your comments.

Aatmaatvam....Swarna Kamalam

Nov 12, 2008

As my blog caption says...today I am here with a short song.

The piece is picked from the Telugu movie 'Swarna Kamalam' , one of the classics of director K.Vishwanath. The wonderful songs of the movie and the movie itself is overwhelming.

This piece is actually the lines of 'Shiva Manasa Pooja'(composed by Shankaracharya). I did a bit of research on the meaning of the lines.

Meaning:
You are my Self, Parvati is my intellect. My vital breaths are Your
attendants, My body is Your house, and all the pleasures enjoyed by
my senses are materials for Your puja. My sleep is Your state of
samaadhI. Wherever I walk, I am circumambulating You, Everything I
say is a hymn of praise to You, Everything I do is in devotion to
You oh Shambhu
!

Will try posting other songs of the movie very soon!

Here it goes...
